Starting is always the hardest part... But it doesn't have to be!

Are you feeling a little sluggish after the holidays? If you are, you're not alone! It can be tough to get back on track with a healthy lifestyle at this time of year. Many of us have been indulging more than usual, to say the least. All of that extra food (especially sugar) and drink can cause energy highs and lows (crashes) and even mood swings. Add to that, the shorter days of winter and it can be enough to make you just want to stay home and hibernate! But you know what would make you feel better? Yoga! :) And we’re going to ease back into it gently this week. Sometimes just showing up and stepping onto the mat is an accomplishment in itself. So don’t beat yourself up if you’ve lost some strength, some flexibility and some stamina since the last time you stepped onto the mat. Give yourself credit for being resilient and willing to start again! Focus on what you can do, not what you can’t. Of course, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t set goals. Goals are vitally important and keep us motivated and moving forward in life. But maybe your goals should include loving yourself more and being gentle with yourself when you’re starting (or re-starting) out. We all have to start somewhere. So why not start with self love? Self love has a tendency to radiate outward and touch the people around you in amazingly positive ways.
